Your Calling on Campus
"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
- Jesus Christ, Matthew 28: 18-20

As you are walking the hallways (virtual or real) at your high school or as you are preparing to step foot on your new campus home for four years, know that God has placed you there on purpose. The classmates. The teammates. The roommates. That randomly assigned group project (ugh!). Your calling among those groups on and off campus is to be an ambassador for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20). You are His mouthpiece and example of what it means to be reconciled to God.
When I served as a youth pastor, I led our students to be commissioned as campus missionaries. I don't remember the source of C.H.R.I.S.T. acrostic, but I wanted to share it with you.
On your journey to discovering your higher calling, embrace the opportunities you have to influence the people and situations around you. As a follower of Christ, you are commanded to "go and make disciples of all nations." While your high school campus may not be diverse, the college you attend may have students that represent all fifty states and hundreds of international countries. What an incredible opportunity to share Jesus with all nations. So, as you prepare to select a major, a career, and a college, also prepare yourself to be an ambassador for Christ.
Because Jesus loves me and I love Him, I will:
COMMIT
myself to a love relationship with Jesus Christ...through praying, studying His word, and allowing His Spirit to lead me each day.
READ Matthew 22:36-38
HONOR
Christ in my moral life...with my thoughts, words, actions and relationships.
READ 1 Timothy 4:12
RESPECT
my parents and all authorities in my life...with love, honor and obedience.
READ Ephesians 6:13; Romans 13:1
INVOLVE
myself in encouraging and uniting with other Christians...regardless of race, church or social status.
READ Hebrews 10:24-25
SEEK
God through prayer...asking Him daily to bring spiritual awakening to my generation.
READ 2 Chronicles 7:14
TAKE
the message of Christ to my school and world...by praying, living and witnessing so that every student has the opportunity to hear about Christ.
READ Acts 1:8
